ROADMAP: RAPID READS

Does parenting ever leave you feeling frustrated?
Yeah, me too.
Sometimes I get so dysregulated when I start to think my kids could be doing
better,
more,
the things my way.
Do you ever feel that?
One of the strategies I use in those moments is to pause and kindly ask, “Are you doing your best?”
Dr. Ross Greene reminds us that kids do well when they can. So I believe my kids, no matter what their answer is.
When they say “Yes,” I remind myself to breathe and then I do my best to let my expectations go. I trust that they know their best and that they are doing it.
When they say, “No,” I ask them how I can help them or support them in their work, choices, tasks.
If I am going to trust that my best is enough, my kids deserve that same trust.
